Caucasian Shepherd, 1+ Year Female, Purebred Highlights

• Loyal and Protective Nature: Caucasian Shepherds are renowned for their strong protective instincts and unwavering loyalty to their families. They are naturally wary of strangers and can be excellent guard dogs.
• Large and Imposing Size: These dogs are substantial in size, with males typically weighing between 100-150 pounds and females slightly less. Their imposing presence is a key characteristic.
• Requires Early Socialization: Due to their protective nature, early and consistent socialization is crucial for Caucasian Shepherds. This helps them distinguish between threats and normal visitors.
• Intelligent but Independent: They are intelligent dogs but can also be quite independent and strong-willed. Consistent, firm, and fair training methods are essential for success.
• Moderate Exercise Needs: While large, Caucasian Shepherds do not require excessive exercise. Daily walks and opportunities to patrol their territory are usually sufficient.
• Potential Health Considerations: Like many large breeds, they can be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia. Responsible breeding practices and maintaining a healthy weight can help mitigate these risks.
